Our Journey Started with a Simple Question

Back in 2013, our founder Evelyn Thornfield was working as a financial consultant in Sydney when she noticed something troubling. Bright, motivated people were making the same financial mistakes over and over again - not because they lacked intelligence, but because they'd never been taught the fundamentals properly.

Traditional education had failed them. University courses were too theoretical. Weekend seminars were too shallow. What people needed was something different - a structured approach that connected real financial principles with practical application.

So we started parionexa with a clear mission: create financial education that actually works for real people facing real challenges. We began with small workshops in community centers, teaching basic budgeting and investment principles to anyone who'd listen.

Those early sessions taught us everything. We learned that people don't need complicated formulas - they need clear frameworks they can understand and apply immediately. They don't want to become financial experts overnight - they want to make better decisions tomorrow than they made yesterday.

Evelyn Thornfield

Founder & Education Director

Evelyn spent 15 years in corporate finance before discovering her passion for teaching. She holds a Master's in Financial Planning from Griffith University and has helped design curriculum for several major Australian financial institutions.

What drives her most is seeing that moment when complex financial concepts suddenly make sense to someone. "The best part of this work is watching people gain confidence in their financial decisions," she says. "It's not about making them experts - it's about giving them the tools to ask the right questions."

Outside of parionexa, Evelyn serves on the advisory board for the Australian Financial Literacy Foundation and speaks regularly at industry conferences about practical education methods.

Looking Ahead

We're constantly evolving our programs based on what we learn from participants and changes in the financial landscape. Our autumn 2025 cohort will include new modules on digital banking, cryptocurrency basics, and modern investment platforms - all taught with the same practical approach that's defined parionexa from the beginning.
